Passion is fuelling the Truckline Services team as it helps keep trucks moving across the country.
Originally established as a family-owned business by Kelvin Pearson over 30 years ago, Truckline Services has been operating under management of owners, Greg and Gareth Pert along with Murray Kernohan as managing director since it changed hands two years ago.
With 21 years’ experience in management roles within the trucking industry, Kernohan has spent the majority of his working life in and around the transport and heavy equipment. He originally started off his career as a Diesel Mechanic with Goughs (Caterpillar) before spending 13 years working overseas – including nine years racing trucks in Europe.
When the opportunity came up to take over the Truckline Services business in 2019, Kernohan says he jumped at it.
“The chance to buy a Kenworth parts and service operation doesn’t come around often. Without a doubt Kenworth is one of the premium brands on the road so the opportunity to take over the business was far too good to pass up.”
Since taking the driver’s seat at Truckline Services, Kernohan has driven significant investment into the business, including to the premises and people.
“We’re very proud to have this franchise and we want to be seen to be looking after it the best we possibly can.
“From my experience you’re nothing without good staff so we’re very fortunate to have a team we are proud of,” says Kernohan, who believes investing in and improving the Hewletts Road premises helped attract staff as the team expanded.
“Enhancing our facilities proved we were committed to the business and to investing in it.”
Priding itself as being a “one-stop shop” for all transport servicing needs, Truckline Services offer servicing, an in-house electrician, independent Certificate of Fitness (CoF) lane, parts and merchandise, and a 24/7 callout service.
The business provides a complete suite of mechanical repairs for all light and heavy transport equipment, with the team fully trained in the servicing of Kenworth, DAF and Cummins engines, and also able to maintain other brands in the fleet as required.
“We’re proud of our association with Kenworth, DAF and Cummins. They are all premium, well-respected brands in the industry,” says Kernohan.
Truckline Services stock a comprehensive range of Kenworth and DAF parts on their shelves and also have the ability to source any transport related parts in the shortest timeframe possible.
Kernohan says the business’ 24-hour callout service is also vital for its customers.
“When you see trucks out there on the road they are always there for good reasons, doing critical jobs. Our role is to keep them moving,” he says.
“You never want to have issues when you’re out on the road but if you do you need someone to answer your call and help get you back up and running as soon as possible – that’s where we come in.”
Truckline Services’ trained mechanics are on call around the clock, with the callout vehicle fully stocked with all the parts and equipment required to resolve common roadside issues and get trucks back on the road as quickly and safely as possible.
Striving to be the service provider of choice, Truckline Services is continuously looking for ways to improve the customer experience.
“No matter how good we are we can always do things better,” says Kernohan.
“We’ve already made big improvements over the past couple of years and now we’re looking at some of the smaller things we can do to streamline and improve our business processes even further – it’s about finding ways we can work smarter, not harder.”
